Drax’s Final Training Session Before Heading Home

Drax is officially at the end of his stay with us at Primal Canine, so for this session we kept things fun while putting some of his commands together and polishing up a few details before he heads home.

At this point in a training program, we’re not trying to cram in a bunch of new information. The focus is on strengthening what the dog already knows, keeping communication clear, and making sure the overall picture feels comfortable and familiar.

Drax has come a long way since the beginning of his program.

When he first arrived, we were working through things like leash pulling, overstimulation, engagement, obedience, and getting him more comfortable working around different environments and distractions.

Over time, those individual pieces started coming together.

His engagement improved, his obedience became more reliable, and he learned how to stay connected to the handler without needing constant physical guidance. We were also able to progress into more off-leash work and start combining commands rather than practicing everything as isolated exercises.

This final session was really about enjoying that progress.

We moved through different commands, worked on transitions, and cleaned up some of the smaller details while keeping the session light and positive.

The Next Stage of Drax’s Training

While Drax heading home is a big milestone, it isn’t really the finish line.

The next stage is transferring everything he has learned back to his family.

A dog can build a strong understanding of commands during a board and train program, but the long-term success comes from teaching the owners how to communicate with their dog, maintain the expectations, and apply the training to everyday life.

That owner transition is where all of the individual pieces really start coming together.

We’re excited to start working with Drax and his family and help them build on everything he has accomplished during his stay.

Drax has made some huge improvements throughout his program, and it has been awesome watching his confidence, responsiveness, and overall understanding develop.

Now it’s time for him to head home and start putting all of that training to work with his family.
