Delilah Has Her Best Training Session Yet After Just One Week

Delilah just had her best training session yet.

After only one week in training, we’re already seeing a noticeable change in her attitude, confidence, and willingness to participate.

For a dog that started out hesitant, unsure, and slow to engage, this session was a big step forward.

More Excited to Train

One of the biggest differences in this session was Delilah’s overall attitude.

She came into the work with more energy and looked noticeably more excited to participate.

That matters because confidence is not just about whether a dog can physically perform a command.

We also want to see the dog becoming more comfortable with the training process itself.

When Delilah starts looking forward to the interaction, following the lure willingly, and staying engaged, that tells us the foundation is getting stronger.

Following the Lure Through Heel

We continued working on Delilah’s heel foundation using food luring.

Compared with her earlier sessions, she was much more willing to follow the lure and move into the heel position without the same level of hesitation.

This is a big part of how we’re building her obedience right now.

Instead of rushing into verbal commands or asking for too much precision, we’re first making sure she is comfortable moving with the handler and understanding the position we want.

The cleaner that movement becomes, the easier it will be to build a more reliable heel later.

Delilah Started Offering Automatic Sits

One of the biggest wins from the session was Delilah beginning to offer automatic sits from the lure.

That shows she is starting to understand the pattern of the exercise instead of simply following food without processing what comes next.

Those moments are exactly what we want to see.

She is beginning to think through the training, anticipate the position, and offer behavior with more confidence.

For Delilah, that is a major step compared with where she started.

Why One Week of Progress Matters

If you go back and watch Delilah’s first training video, the difference is obvious.

In the beginning, much of the work was centered around getting her comfortable enough to take food, interact, and participate in very short sessions.

Now, only one week later, she is:

  • More excited to train

  • Following the lure more confidently

  • Moving into heel more willingly

  • Offering automatic sits

  • Staying engaged for longer

  • Showing more initiative during the session

That is exactly the type of progression we want with a sensitive dog.

Patience Is Still the Priority

Even with the progress we’re seeing, we are not going to rush Delilah.

She is still a dog that benefits from patience and carefully managed pressure.

The goal is to keep building confidence without pushing her so hard that we create unnecessary setbacks.

Each successful session gives us a stronger foundation to build on.

As Delilah becomes more comfortable, we can gradually add more structure, precision, duration, and difficulty.

Delilah Is Starting to Open Up

This was easily Delilah’s best session so far, and we’re extremely happy with what she showed us.

The biggest win is not just that she performed better.

It is that she looked more confident, more engaged, and more willing to be part of the process.

After just one week, that is a big change.

We’re excited to keep building her heel foundation, obedience, engagement, and overall confidence as she continues through her board and train program.
