The Ground Game | Theory & Application
The Ground Game | Theory & Application
Two-day workshop for decoys and dogs — Gilroy, CA Dates: June 6–7, 2026 Limited working-dog spots available
This two-day workshop is for decoys and dogs who want clearer responses under pressure, improved ground performance, and a stronger foundation for long fights. We will teach a structured ground-game system plus a long-fight incremental-pressure approach that builds reliable fundamentals and scales into advanced applications.
What we will focus on
Clear, repeatable progressions from beginner to advanced
Proper mechanics for both decoys and dogs
Controlled, incremental application of spatial and force pressure
Grip development, endurance, and safe maneuvering on the ground
Practical problem-solving and confidence under stress
Decoy-specific skills: timing, positioning, mechanics, and progressive pressure application
Introduction to our decoy leveling system
Classroom and field instruction (with and without dogs)
Why the ground game matters: working the ground develops attributes that carry into every phase of handling:
Response to spatial pressure — reading and reacting to moving threats
Endurance — sustain performance during extended engagements
Body awareness and safe maneuvering — protect dog and decoy while maximizing effectiveness
Grip strength — functional holds that translate to control and stability
Confidence and decision-making under pressure — turning hesitation into clarity
Who should attend
Handlers and dogs looking to refine fundamentals and push toward advanced ground work
Decoys wanting to improve timing, mechanics, and progressive pressure delivery
Trainers seeking practical drills and a structured approach to long fights
Format
