Peaches Builds Off-Leash Recall, Heel Work, and Cleaner Positions

Peaches continues to make strong progress in her board and train program, and in this latest session we focused on off-leash recalls, heel work, and cleaning up her sit and down using a position box.

We also continued reinforcing the work with the e-collar so the communication stays clear and consistent as we ask for more precision.

Building Off-Leash Recall

One of the main pieces of this session was Peaches’ off-leash recall.

Recall is one of the most important behaviors a dog can learn, especially as we start removing the physical guidance of the leash.

At this stage, we want Peaches to respond quickly, understand the communication clearly, and make the decision to return to the handler even when she has more freedom.

Each successful repetition helps build more reliability and a stronger history of responding correctly.

Continuing to Sharpen Her Heel

We also spent time on heel work.

Peaches already has a good foundation, so now we can start tightening up the details and asking for cleaner positioning.

The more consistent she becomes in heel, the easier it will be to maintain that behavior across different environments and levels of distraction.

Using Box Work to Clean Up Sit and Down

We also introduced more box work to improve the mechanics of Peaches’ sit and down.

The position box gives us a clearer physical picture and helps reduce unnecessary movement while she performs each command.

That lets us focus more on:

• Body placement

• Cleaner transitions

• More consistent positions

• Better understanding of where we want her

• Precision before adding more difficulty

The goal is not just for Peaches to technically sit or down.

We want those behaviors to become cleaner and more deliberate.

Reinforcing With the E-Collar

We continued using the e-collar as part of the communication system we have already been building with Peaches.

The collar helps reinforce familiar behaviors and gives us another way to keep the communication clear, especially as we work without the leash.

The goal is for Peaches to understand what is being asked and how to respond consistently, not simply to react to the tool itself.

Building More Precision Off Leash

Removing the leash gives us a better look at how well Peaches really understands the work.

Without physical leash guidance, she has to rely more on the training foundation, verbal commands, reward history, body language, and e-collar communication we have already established.

That makes off-leash sessions useful for identifying what is solid and what still needs to be cleaned up.

Peaches Is Tightening Up Nicely

Peaches did great throughout the session.

Her recall is progressing, her heel is becoming cleaner, and the box work is helping us tighten up her sit and down.

She continues to bring a ton of energy into training, and now we are channeling that energy into more precise and reliable obedience.

We’ll keep building these behaviors while gradually increasing the difficulty as her understanding improves.
