Guillame's Confidence Continues to Grow Through Bite Work Training

One of the most rewarding parts of developing a young protection dog is watching their confidence grow from one session to the next. While every training session has its own goals, sometimes the biggest victory is simply seeing a dog come out eager and ready to work.

This was Guillame's second training session of the day, and his attitude was noticeably different from the start. He showed more forwardness, greater engagement, and a stronger willingness to work, all signs that his confidence is continuing to develop through consistent training.

For this session, we used the short wedge/sleeve as a sleeve to give Guillame a slightly different picture while continuing to reinforce the fundamentals of bite work. Changing equipment and presentation helps create a more well-rounded dog while ensuring they learn to confidently engage regardless of what they're presented with.

Throughout the session, Guillame adapted well to the new picture and showed solid progress. His targeting continued to improve, and he displayed a better overall attitude toward the work.

We're still focused on developing stronger pulling behavior once he's committed to the bite and helping him become more comfortable staying engaged throughout the exercise. These skills aren't built overnight. They come from hundreds of quality repetitions that gradually increase confidence, understanding, and commitment.

Every successful repetition gives Guillame another opportunity to learn that the bite is rewarding. As that confidence grows, so does his willingness to drive into the work with greater intensity and commitment.

Overall, this was another productive session and another step forward in Guillame's development. Watching these small improvements stack together is exactly what makes the process so rewarding, and we're excited to continue helping him maximize his potential.
